How Do We Decide If It's Time to Update Our Company's Team Photos?

By Dmytro Derkach · Brussels-based commercial photographer

Count changes, not years. Three changes is the practical trigger, regardless of how much time has passed.

Go through your current set and count: how many people have joined, left, or changed role or appearance since the photos were taken. If the number is three or more out of a team of twenty to thirty, the set has likely already crossed into visibly mismatched — even if no single photo looks wrong on its own. If it’s one or two, a short catch-up session for those individuals, using the original setup, is enough.

  • Count people changed, not months elapsed
  • Three or more changes in a team of twenty to thirty is the practical threshold
  • One or two changes need a catch-up session, not a full reshoot

This turns “does it still look fine” — a question nobody can answer objectively about their own team — into a number anyone can check in five minutes.
