Why Does Corporate Photography Pricing Vary So Much Between Photographers?

By Dmytro Derkach · Brussels-based commercial photographer

The price gap is rarely about talent — it’s about what’s included before and after the shoot.

Two quotes for the same team of thirty can differ by a factor of two, and the photograph itself explains almost none of it. What explains it: retouching depth per image, how many looks or setups are covered, whether a second photographer or assistant is on site, and how the files are delivered — ready to use immediately, or handed over raw for someone else to sort out.

The reason clients struggle to compare is that most quotes don’t show this breakdown. A price without a scope is not comparable to another price without a scope — it just looks like one is “expensive” and one is “reasonable,” when the actual difference is what’s being delivered.

  • Ask what’s included per person, not just the day rate
  • Ask what retouching level is standard vs. optional
  • Compare delivered scope, not just the final number

Once the scope is visible, most “why is this more expensive” questions answer themselves.
